I love bad movies but, before you read any further, you should know this magazine isn't about them. Bad Movies is a magazine that tells personal stories about pop culture. It goes beyond critical analysis and tells the stories of how media affects our lives. Essays about the TV shows that made coming out easier. Essays about the album that helps you through your panic attacks. Essays about the movies that made you who you are.
So why the title? I love bad movies because they aren't supposed to exist. Say whatever you want about their scripts or the quality of the acting but someone made those movies, despite every obstacle that stood in their way. No studio was going to greenlight a Tommy Wiseau film, so he took his own money and his own indecipherable accent and made The Room. No one can take that away from him. This site is our bad movie. We wanted a space to write and we aren't waiting for access, we're just doing it. Worst case scenario, we hope you'll have just as much fun reading Bad Movies as you did watching Teen Witch. Best case, we have something genuinely new to say.
I hope you'll take the time to read an issue. More than that, I hope you'll consider contributing stories of your own.
